Different Types of Modelling

Modelling is a much sort out profession in the world today. You might have come across

a lot of advertisements in newspapers and televisions. There are various types of

modeling such as High fashion modeling, Glamour modeling, Petite modeling, Plus size

modeling, Teen modeling, Mature modeling, Body Part Modeling, Male modeling, Character

or "Real People" modeling, Catalogue modeling, Showroom Modeling, Fit Modeling,

Promotional (Trade Show) Modeling, and Editorial (Magazine and Newspaper) Modeling.
Let's have brief description of some of the various types of modeling in the industry:
High fashion modeling

In this kind of a fashion modeling, the models wear the clothes of the designers on the

runway shows. This show is the place where the public gets a first hand view of the

clothes designed by the designers. Designers hire models to perform in this show.
For high end fashion, the modeling agencies look for models with certain looks. It

depends on the look of the season and the preference of the designers. Usually the high

end fashion looks for girls are high cheekbones, long necks and square jaws. The

requirements may change but commonly these features are preferred by the agencies in

girl models. The age group preferred for female models is from 14 to 19 years old. The

height should be around 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches. They should maintain a

lean figure.

Glamour modeling
Compared to the high end fashion modeling glamour modeling has fewer requirements.

Glamour models are models that pose for various types of magazines. For glamour models

each magazines have different guidelines. Some like the models to have square jaws or

round face. These models should look pretty, be fit and remain in shape.

Petite modeling
Petite modeling is usually done for small boutiques or stores with short divisions.

This type of modeling has no strict requirements.

Plus size modeling
Plus size modeling is done for stores with plus size division. This type of modeling is

gaining popularity among the public since there are a lot of people in the population

with plus size cloth requirements.
Teen modeling

The teen models preferred by the agencies come under the age group of 13 to 17 years

old. Teen models are mostly used to do advertisements for print and television.
Body Part Modeling

In body part modeling various parts of you body like your neck, feet, hand, leg, etc

are used for modeling. The basic requirement to do hand modeling is that you should

have a perfect body part. That means perfect nails on feet and hands, no scars or

wrinkles, no veins should show up and the skin should be perfect.

Promotional Modeling
Promotional modeling is commonly done fro trade shows and exhibitions. The models will

stand at the exhibition booth to display the products of the company and invite the

customers to the booth. Sometimes the models have to travel with the company to promote

the product. This is a great opportunity since you can meet different clients and

marketing professionals who can help you in future. There are no specific requirements
